Thermal Transfer labels are used on printers that transfer blank ribbon to paper by application of heat.  For labels with barcodes, or variable numbers or letters, or even short run single black color labels, thermal transfer labels may be the most economical way.  Many logistics companies as well as inventory companies use thermal transfer labels to efficiently print out labels they need.
